We didn't start as math kids.
We bombed tests, dreaded class, and thought math just wasn't for us — until something clicked. Now we're here to make sure you don't have to wait for luck.
How we got here
We bombed tests, dreaded class, and thought math just wasn't for us — until something clicked. Maybe it was the right explanation at the right time, or finally seeing how the pieces fit together. Whatever it was, it changed everything.
We went from dreading every quiz to genuinely loving the subject and eventually becoming some of the strongest students in our classes.
That shift felt almost accidental. And that bothered us.
No student should have to stumble onto their potential by luck. So we built Lyon Math Prep — a free, peer-led tutoring program where high schoolers who've lived that exact journey guide middle and high school students through the subjects that once stumped us.
Our tutoring is built around the South Lyon curriculum, so students aren't just learning math in the abstract. They're getting direct support for the exact courses and standards they're working through right now.
No cost. No catch. Just students helping students, the way we wish someone had helped us.
